BYU Womens Soccer Coach Jen Rockwood to head up the U7-U10 Academy
Mike Goodman takes over the helm of Celtic Storm Soccer Club
Mike Goodman has been elected as the new president of Celtic Storm Soccer Club. For the last 15 years or so, Mike has been either a head coach or an assistant coach at every age level from U8 through U18 for both boy and girl teams at every level of play from recreational to the premier league on two different. He holds a National license D and is a state and regionally certified goal keeper coach. Mike served as the Director of Training and the Vice President of another soccer Club for the last 4 years. His son is currently playing collegiate soccer in Wyoming and his daughter is on the U16 Celtic Storm Premier team. When asked for his vision and for his reaction to his election, Mike stated: "I am honored to serve as the president of Celtic Storm Soccer Club. Celtic Storm has a proven tradition of developing amazing young women into the highest caliber players. Celtic Storms mission statement has been "World Class Girls through World Class Soccer." I will continue to reach for this goal. We want to enable each young women to develop to her highest potential and to reach her greatest goals, both in soccer and also in life. We have first class coaches and trainers who are dedicated to doing all they can for each player. They not only have the capability to provide the highest level of soccer training, but to be a mentor and example of excellence in other areas of life." Natalyn Lewis, Celtic Storm Director of Coaching chosen as the Coach of the Year for the second time this decade.
Since the days when Natalyn was an All-Conference and Academic All-American playing for BYU through years of transferring those same skills and attributes to those she has coached, Natalyn has always inspired excellence from those she works with. For the second time in the last 4 years, Natalyn Lewis was chosen as the high school soccer coach of the year in Utah after leading her Timpanogos Timberwolves team to the 4A State Championship for 2009. As she was quoted in the Salt Lake Tribune article announcing the honor, she said "I let them know that if they wanted it, it was theirs for the taking, but the rest was up to them," While the Timberwolves took the initiative, it was Lewis who set the bar high. Despite heading into the state tournament as a third-seed underdog, Timpanogos adjusted its game to each opponent and earned three consecutive road wins over top-ranked opponents to reach the state title game. Once there, the Timberwolves defied the odds again as McKenzie Adams netted two goals, including the game-winner with 30 seconds left in regulation, to dethrone defending state champion Bonneville. "The fun part about coaching is just opening their eyes to possibility," said Lewis. "Then, you just sit back and watch what they can do on their own. They earned this title all on their own."
